English Language Arts

This course will focus on two key skills: reading and communicating effectively. We will begin by reviewing and reinforcing foundational literacy skills and progressively move toward more advanced ones. By the end of this course, students will:

• Develop a more extensive academic vocabulary for use in writing and discussions
• Connect ideas in reading and writing
• Read critically and analytically
• Communicate their ideas through writing 
• Proofread and use writing conventions effectively 
• Develop organizational skills
